Transcript of a phone conversation between Baba (in Calcutta) and Swamiji (in the San Antonio ashram) on February 7, 1996. Note that Baba, being a perfect mirror of our consciousness, calls everybody "Baba" or "Guruji"...

Pranams Guruji! How are you?

Pranams Guruji. I am all right.

Baba I miss you so much...

No! I am always with you. You cannot remove me from your fontanel, from your mid-brain. How are you?

I am well, Baba, thank you. My mind is a little restless, but otherwise I am well...

Why restless?

Oh, I don't know Baba. I have so many thoughts, stupid thoughts, so much ego. It's hard to get rid of it. I want to get rid of it, Baba. Please help me, please bless me...

Yes, I will help you.

Oh thank you Gurudev! Baba, I wanted to ask you, when are you arriving in New York? Is it on [April] the 22nd, or 24th, do you know?

I will reach on 22nd, but I will observe silence on 22nd, 23rd, 24th. From 25th I will talk... 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th. Four days. You are also coming there.

And then, your birthday celebration will be in Vienna?

In Vienna.

Baba may I ask you a question?

Yes.

When the sadhaka, the spiritual person tries to realize God, does it mean you have to kill the ego completely, or transform it? Does the ego have to die, or can it be transformed... How does it work, Baba?

Transformed, yes. From one place [state] to another. Only if you feel that God loves you. He is constantly inhaling through your nostrils. He is constantly inhaling through your nostrils. It is His love. If He doesn't take breath, you are [a] dead body. Even from your infancy, He is giving you time to know thyself. The boy of twelve, boy of five in India, they are after God. But the people they are not taking time to seek God. And they do not know what is love for God. Feel that God has love for the human being, as the mother is giving constant love to the baby child, constantly keeping her in the lap, and giving breast, and trying to develop the child nicely. Constantly her mind is on [the] baby. Not even on [her] husband. Similarly in your every breath, if you only keep your attention in the fontanel, and humbly say "Lord, I do not know Your real love, but I feel Your love, that all the time You are inhaling... With one inhalation, short inhalation, I am touching Thee in the fontanel." You are going to tape it [my talk]?

Yes, always, if Baba allows...

So tell like that, that people do not know what is love for God, what is [the] love of [a] mother. Mother has love for [her] baby child, constant love. Similarly God has constant love [for you]. Even when you are sleeping, He is inhaling through your nostrils. So one breath will go and with deepest love you will say "Lord, You!" Then automatically you will hear divine sound, and you will feel God-movement sensation. Also raise your eyebrows, only keep your attention in the fontanel, then surely you will see milk-white light. Before creation there was only milk-white light. After creation He made man and woman. So every human being can get [perceive] that the formless power of God is hiding within them. That is the milk-white light, and divine sound, and God-movement sensation, [which allows you] to move. So constantly love Him! Follow me?

Yes Baba.

Many they are suffering from many diseases, but people are remaining with ego. So ego should be avoided. If you remain in the 7th story [floor] of the building [the 7th chakra in the fontanel], in the abode of God, when ego is coming from the fourth story [from the heart center, for example], you will remain free there [on the top]. When the ego is coming [from the centers below], then you will say "O Lord, lead me from the old self to the new self." You put on your new self. You remain in your new self, in the fontanel, with love. And all the time you remain... you are always there! Any talk [which] is coming, it is coming from the fontanel. So, love. Clear?

[Yes] Baba!

You are remaining in the ashram. It is also the love for God. Because you have left your worldly mood and you are remaining in the organization. So all the time try to remain in seclusion... and in silence. Unnecessarily do not create so many things.

[The conversation then turned to the logo which Baba had asked me to redesign. I had previousoy faxed a new design proposal to Baba, which he now discussed]

Baba, you have seen the symbol [logo]? In the symbol it is written only these four words: Isha vasyam idam sarvam. These two words—isha vasyam—will remain on one side. And on the other side, idam sarvam. The whole universe is Isha [God]. "Isha pervades everything"—this is the literal translation. Isha abides in everything. In everything! That you should give. And also you should give love to God. Love is the most important thing. You know. Love between the boyfriend and girlfriend is so strong—[they are so] attached, [they try to] be one. Similarly, you and He are one, and always have been one, so attached! Only say "Lord, I do not know real love, but I feel Your love in me. Without breath I have nothing, I am [a] dead body. This much. I will say no more, this is enough.

Oh, thank you so much Babaji!

I want to bow you eternally at your feet.

This is very important: without love, meditation is useless. The primacy is on God. Because He is the principle thing in the world. He is sole doer. So love, love, love. Clear? Thank you very much. I want to bow you all. Good bye. I love you. Pronams. Bye bye.
