Hari om and Happy New Year!

I pray that your every sacred wish be fulfilled in this Holy New Year. A New Year is also a time to reflect back and give thanks to all the joys, sorrows, opportunities and challenges God has given us in this retreating year 2007. And to stand humbly at the door of 2008 and say, "Yes, Lord, I am ready and grateful for what you will send me in this New Year. All comes from Thee, and all shall return to Thee. Please make me a worthy vessel for Thy grace."

And indeed, the year 2007 was graced by God and Baba with many wonderful new centers, Kriya programs, and Ark of Love activities with poor children.

THE KRIYA VILLAGE OF LOVE AWAITS YOU...

I am staying for one month with Rajarshi Raghabananda (Baba's most advanced disciple) in his ashram, accompanied by our "Ark of Love Captain" Rafael from Peru and our new Brahmachari Lionel from Argentina.

A few days ago we visited the most astonishing place on earth: an entire Kriya Yoga village, called Banabira, set in a beautiful and peaceful countryside 100 kms from Sambalpur. Since 2002, these extremely poor but devoted people have been building, with their own hands and with their own meager resources, an ashram of ravishing beauty as an act of love for Gurudev Baba Hariharananda. I told them that I usually never build nor support ashrams, as I concentrate all my energy and the funds I manage to raise to building schools for abandoned children and widows. But I fell completely in love with these unique village people who are only interested in deep meditation, peace, and God-realization.

Here you do not find so much the usual problems of rape, alcoholism, drug abuse and domestic violence associated with most poor and uneducated communities throughout rural India. These simple people are highly evolved souls who, I feel, could one day provide a model for the world about how to live a simple, peaceful, God-conscious life, free from stress, violence, or misery. They only need a little financial help to make this heaven on earth come true. And so I have pledged that we will gradually help to support them.

Next year in February, I am planning to organize a one-week Kriya Yoga seminar and retreat in this heavenly place of Banabira, which Raghabanandaji and myself will lead. So we need to help them complete the first phase of the ashram by January 2009.

I am therefore appealing to you all, my beloved souls, to please find in your heart if you can contribute something (really ANY AMOUNT would help) for this unique Kriya Yoga village on earth.

Here are our currently needs:

- 10 lakhs to complete the meditation hall (which can sit 300 people amidst an ocean of flowers, fruit trees, and song birds!)

- 1 lakh to upgrade the well, water pump and electrical supply which are falling apart.

- 3 lakhs to start a little medical dispensary (there is no doctor, nor health care whatsoever for miles around the village) The following year, we will start building some guest rooms for foreign and local disciples who want to stay for extended periods of sadhana and seclusion.

We also need 1 lakh to upgrade and build additional guest rooms in the "Hariharananda Kriya Yoga Ashram" built by Baba Hariharananda and Raghabanandaji in Sambalpur, where we have the unique opportunity to be guided in profound meditation three times a day by Rajarshi Raghabananda.

Some practical details:

- 1 lakh is 100,000 rupees. Which means we need a total of

10 + 1 + 3 + 1 = 15 lakhs or, at today's rate, about $ 38,000 or 25,581 Euros.

- If at all possible, please send your donations in euros rather than in dollars, as the exchange rate between the rupee and the dollar is catastrophically low nowadays.

By the grace of God and Baba, we have many new books and CDs

on Kriya Yoga, Baba Hariharananda, the Kriya Yoga masters, practical

tips on spirituality, and Wisdom Tales scheduled for publication through Hariharananda Mission West. Raghabanandaji, who has published more than 20 books on Baba Hariharananda and Kriya Yoga, has entrusted

us to publish all his books in English, Spanish and Portuguese (and

some in French too). In addition, he has collected over 40 years of

private letters written by Baba to him on deeper aspects of spirituality

and advanced Kriya Yoga techniques -- a total of over 1,000 letters

never made public before. Many of these letters will too be gradually published, with ample footnotes, comments, and glossaries.

However to face this enormous amount of publication projects, we need to build a solid, professional-oriented, Publishing Team of Volunteers. Specifically we require people well-versed in:

- Translation:
1) from English to French, Spanish and Portuguese
2) from Hindi to English
3) from Oriya to English
4) from French to English, Spanish, and Portuguese

- Editing (in French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese)

- Proofreading (in French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese)

- Graphic design (for book covers, CD sleeves, promotional posters, etc.)

- Page layout (for books)

- Distribution:

As we will self-publish all of these books under the label "Hariharananda Publishing", we need teams of people in each country to research and make contact with independent book and music distributors who would be interested in distributing our products through their networks of bookstores.

- Advertising and Public Relations: in each city, to research and contact all local radio and TV stations, newspapers, magazines, and other media to send them a sample of our books and request a review to be done in their media.

- Fund-raising and financing (to fund the printing and shipping costs. All our books will be printed in Lima, Peru, where we are working with a high-quality but low-cost printer)

SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA PILGRIMAGE -- PLEASE ENROLL NOW TO ENSURE THAT IT WILL TAKE PLACE!

We need to know by the middle of March whether we have a minimum of 12 committed people who have paid their $500 non-refundable deposit for the Santiago de Compostella pilgrimage in July. If by March 15 we have not received the deposits and commitment from a minimum of 12 people, we will fully refund these deposits and cancel the pilgrimage for this year.
This measure has become necessary in order to cover the cost last minute cancellations.

My beloved ones,

Hari om! I pray that you are all well and prospering nicely. I am happy to write to you again. I am now in Delhi with Swami Chetan to record a CD together -- we will be in the studio for about 5 days.

I have now moved permanently in our Matri Chhaya center in Haridwar with Swami Sharad Puriji, and we are making furniture to receive our first batch of 10 orphans next month. Everything is proceeding very beautifully by God's grace. We have three volunteers staying with us too: Gertrudis Ma (Puerto Rico), Melissa Ma (Brazil), and Yvan Baba (Bolivia). Soon you will receive a complete report with photos full of joyful faces.

I have attached some fresh reports about our Ark of Love activities with our little ones in Curitiba, Brazil, prepared by our Gurusandesh Ma, and in Medellin, Colombia, prepared by our Marta-Lucia Ma.

I am also attaching a document called "The problem with channeling and psychic powers." Some recent unfortunate events amongst some very dear disciples have prompted me to write this article for your information. Please read it carefully and meditate on it. I cannot over-emphasize how seriously we must treat this subject.

In other news: The Santiago de Compostella pilgrimage is cancelled, as not enough participants registered with their deposit. However there is another pilgrimage combined with an advanced Kriya Yoga retreat that will be held in the Isla del Sol in Lake Titicaca (Bolivia) on October 20-26, 2008. More information about it will be posted on the web later.

I am happy to write to you again from Matri Chhaya ("The Grace of the Mother"), our little orphanage in Haridwar. Our first poor orphans have started to arrive as we are completing the furniture in the various rooms. Soon I will post some photos on the web.

THE ART OF MANAGING TIME FOR MEDITATION

A few days ago someone wrote to me complaining they were not getting enough time for their spiritual practice, as they were already immersed in so many professional, family, and charitable activities.

Baba's advice when his disciples are facing a serious shortage of time, is to reduce the QUANTITY of meditation, and increase the QUALITY. No need to spend hours meditating! In this case, Baba would always recommend to meditate for 45 minutes, or even 30 minutes, morning and evening (or even only once a day, if there is no other way).

The idea is to move smoothly without pausing through all the techniques, resting comfortably in the fontanel the whole time, watching God moving us through the entire sequence. It is a much more profound, transformative experience.

When we have more time (on the week-end, or on a holdiday, or doing a retreat for instance), then we can dive longer into meditation...

The other point to remember is to practice micro-techniques throughout the day whenever we have some dead time on our hands--waiting at the bus stop, being on hold on the phone, waiting in line at the cash register, walking down the street, driving to work, waiting for an email to upload (as I am doing now on my very SLOOOOW connection), etc.

Let us be divine time and energy managers! These are the skills that humanity are going to require more and more in the years to come... So we might as well get into the habit now. I am working on a new project to help people develop simpler ways of living while at the same time increasing their joy as well as make a positive contribution to the less fortunate ones in this world. It is a surprise... you will hear about it soon.

In all Kriya Yoga and Network of Love centers in the world, this week has a special importance, as we are preparing to celebrate on May 27 the birth anniversary of our beloved Baba Hariharananda, who taught us how to take care of our most important treasure on earth - our breath...

I am inviting all to deepen your meditation and spiritual practice on this auspicious date, and receive the abundant blessings flowing from the great master.

In 2001, Paramahamsa Hariharananda inspired me to start some charitable and educational work in the various countries I was visiting -- thus was born the "Ark of Love" (see www.arcadelamor.org for more details).

By his unfailing grace and blessings, and despite many difficulties, his vision of a God-centered and compassionate family of souls is slowly but surely taking root in the hearts and minds of many devoted people.

Here in India our charitable work is progressing nicely. Our schools are full of poor little ones eager to get an education, and our new little orphanage in Haridwar, called Matri Chhaya ("The Grace of the Mother"), has just opened its doors this month. I have attached a little illustrated report to inspire you to maybe come and visit us one day...

This year I am concentrating much more time and energy in publishing books

and CDs -- not only as an important means to distribute the joy of
spirituality, but also as a source of regular income to help us continue our little mission of sweet love despite the economic recession which is affecting all charities.

- A WONDERFUL book of Raghabanandaji and Baba Hariharanandaji called
"Infinite Within Finite". We will print this little treasure simultaneously in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French.

Hari om from Curitiba, Brazil! And a special welcome to the new 2008 initiates in Kriya Yoga from Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina.

I am happy to have a chance to write to you again after a long time, and to send you some new joyful reports.

The last two months have been very busy with our second annual "Friends of Humanity" training - Level 1 in Lima, Peru, and our first retreat/pilgrimage on the theme "Lifting the Veil of Maya" in the spectacular Isla del Sol in Lake Titicaca. The response of all participants was so enthusiastic, that we will make it an annual event from now on. A special illustrated report is being prepared right now, and will be sent soon.

In the meantime I am happy to send you the latest report on our Friends of Humanity training, as well as a report about the (surprise) initiation in the monastic life of our dear Malena Ma from Peru, who is now known to all as Brahmacharini Priyananda Giri ("The Bliss of Blessed Love")
